Custom Perforated Metal Shade Canopies and Decorative Accents for Seabrook Library
Project Details
- Project: Evelyn Meador Branch Library
- Location: Seabrook, Texas
- Completed: 2011
- Products: Custom perforated metal panels
- Fabrication: Custom punching, forming, bending, and cutouts
- Applications: Exterior shade canopies and decorative architectural accents
Project Requirements
The library project required perforated metal components produced specifically for the building’s architectural design. Rather than using standard perforated sheets, the components needed custom hole patterns, dimensions, bends, and angled configurations.
The perforated metal served both functional and visual purposes. The canopy sections provided exterior shade while also contributing to the building’s appearance. Additional perforated components were incorporated as decorative accents throughout the exterior design.
Because the components would be integrated into a larger architectural system, the fabricated pieces had to follow the project’s specified shapes and configurations.
Fabrication and Assembly
Marco Specialty Steel custom-punched the perforated metal panels according to the project requirements. The panels were then bent and formed to create the canopy sections and decorative architectural components.
Some of the decorative pieces incorporated intricate angles that required careful fabrication. These configurations helped the perforated metal follow the intended lines of the building and coordinate with the library’s overall architectural design.
The project demonstrates Marco Specialty Steel’s ability to provide more than flat perforated sheets. Custom punching, bending, and forming allowed the material to be fabricated into finished components created for a specific architectural application.

Completed Custom Canopies Project
The completed perforated metal canopies and decorative accents became prominent elements of the Evelyn Meador Branch Library exterior. The custom-fabricated components added shade, pattern, depth, and architectural detail while complementing the building’s distinctive design.
More than a decade after the project was completed, the perforated metal remains part of the library’s exterior and continues to contribute to its recognizable appearance.
